PRACTICE DAY – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30, 2010

The Western Canadian Amateur National (WCAN) is a limited entry event with a full gate of 40 in each class & 20 in the ATV's. The number of CMRC members in each region determines the gate allocation. For example, there may be 8 gates saved for Alberta riders in each class, 6 for riders from Manitoba in each class, 2 for riders from PEI, and 8 for riders from SW Ontario etc. The more CMRC members in a region, the more gates that are reserved for that region for each class. (Please note that the gates per region have not been determined yet for 2010)

Each CMRC region runs Amateur National Qualifier (ANQ) races. In Alberta this year there are five races. Some regions have 4, some have 8 etc. The rider that has the highest number of cumulative points from racing in the ANQ's in their region, in their class will get the first gate pick reserved for him/her at the WCAN in his/her class. The rider that has the second highest number of cumulative points from the ANQ races in his/her region, in his/her class would get the second gate pick reserved for him/her and so on. This gate reservation method works the same for each region.

These riders are considered qualified riders. Riders who participate in the ANQ's and maybe donŐt get as high of points or no points, are still considered qualified riders over someone who has not participated in an ANQ. In order for qualified riders to secure their reserved gate, they must have their pre-entry form submitted by JUNE 7, 2010. After that date, the gate positions become open to anyone on a first come-fist served basis.

Regions such as PEI and Quebec donŐt often send riders to the WCAN so the gates reserved for each class for those regions become open. Therefore, if your qualifying position is lower or you haven't raced in a qualifier, you may still get a gate position because not all the qualified riders enter the WCAN or they have not submitted their pre-entry before the deadline of June 7, 2010.

So the best thing to do, if you are at all interested in participating at the WCAN is get your entry form in as soon as they are available on www.cdnmx.com or you receive yours in the mail. Date received will be the deciding factor in determining order of entry after seeding the qualifier positions. If you do not get a gate pick, you will be refunded after June 7, 2010.
