GENERAL INFO

Why all the excitement surrounding the 11th Annual Western Canadian Amateur National Motocross Championships (WCAN)? In 2007, over 750 participants were immersed in the “Temple Hill” experience. The color, the aerobatics, the roar of 40 bikes into the first turn and the intensity of the competition are just a few reasons why. This high profile event allows amateur riders the unique opportunity to compete at an elite level. The top Western riders have the opportunity to compete against each other to determine “The Best in the West”. The event puts riders from across Canada and the US on the starting line of a natural terrain, well-groomed track where Canadian manufacturers will recognize their talent and determination. Not only can they compete for their respective class title but they also get to have their day in the spot light.

Each CMRC region in Canada will be running a series of events, Amateur National Qualifiers (ANQ) that serve to qualify the top amateur motocross riders to compete for a CMRC Canadian Amateur Championship. The regions benefit from the WCAN because of the qualifying structure implemented, it encourages riders to attend their regional qualifiers to guarantee themselves a starting position in their class.

On-site camping, local accommodations, bike wash facilities, economical concession, displays, group campfires, a variety of evening entertainment, scavenger hunt, co-ed races, Big Dog races and security help make this event the highlight of the racing year for everyone who attends, whether a competitor or spectator.

Do I Need to Qualify?
Riders must participate in at least one qualifier in order to pre-enter. Gate positions are available to top qualified riders in each region. If your qualifying position is lower or you haven’t raced in a qualifier, you may still get a starting position if the qualified riders ahead of you do not enter, or other regions entries do not fill their allocated spots.

When Should I Enter?
NOW would be a good time. We recommend that you send your entries immediately. You do not have to wait until the ANQ’s are completed.

What Are the Entry Deadlines?
This is a limited entry event with a full gate of 40 in each class and 20 in the ATV’s. Date received will be the determining factor for first moto gate position, resolution of number conflicts and the order for entries that have not participated in or place lower in the ANQ’s. Pre entries for riders who rode their qualifiers must be received no later than June 8th. After June 8th, entries will be received on a first come basis.

Can Pros Enter Amateur Classes?
Yes, Pros are eligible and welcome to ride the following Amateur classes… Youth, Vet Master, Plus 40 and the GP Pro/Am. These are pay out classes.

What is the Race Format?
There are three motos to decide each class title for the Western Canadian Amateur National with the trophy presentation being held on Saturday evening after the last motos. Refer to the CMRC rulebook for all rules posted online at www.cmrcracing.com. You must have a full CMRC membership to compete in the National events.

Can I Cancel My Entry?
Yes, a written request must be received by June 13th. Refunds less a $20.00 cancellation charge will be mailed out following the event. No cancellation charge if received before June 9th.

60cc “B” Class & Super “Bee” Class
These classes are open to eligible (age, displacement, etc) 60cc and Super Mini riders respectively, who do not place in the top 15 of their regional events. Trophies will be the same as for the National classes.
